"Playtime in Purbeck" April 2002

At the end of April 2002 Geoff arranged the annual cycling weekend, based at Swanage in Dorset, on the South Coast. We stayed at the Grand Hotel which was very nice - some of us made use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi, and my room had a sea view.

Rides were arranged for the Saturday and Sunday, approximately 30 miles each day, but the area is hilly.

Sadly, on the Friday evening Geoff received the news that his wife Christine died, so he returned home immediately. It was decided that he would have wanted the rides to go ahead as planned, as did the tradition of gentlemen dressing up with bow ties for the Saturday evening dinner.

Many thanks to Geoff for arranging the weekend, and Bill for the routes.
